| Practice SmartHow many of us go the range and beat balls for an hour? Is our game really improving? Remember that the practice session is the recording session for the subconscious mind and imperative for playing "in the zone."
When we practice we need to think of it as simulating our playing time on the golf course. Every practice session should start with some simple stretching exercises.
Beginning: Hit balls with the shorter clubs initially before working into the full swing.
Long game: When you are hitting balls, pick a different target every couple of shots and go through your pre-shot routine each time.
Chipping: Chip a ball toward a hole, then go putt it in the hole. Repeat with each chip.
Putting: Direct one ball to each hole until you drop it in the hole, so you are practicing the process of (hopefully) one- or two-putting each green.
Remember, the practice swing is just as important as the real swing in play -- so make sure you focus on the target and the intended ball flight as if it were the real thing.
