My goal is to play my first scratch round by year's end. My previous best score was 75 in high school - my senior year in 1972. In a tournament today, I hit the new 3-wood awesome, the 50 & 56 degree wedges felt like butter and really increased my accuracy. I shot a 79 (they had me at an 11 handicap for this course and tournament) and I won the "A" tournament with a net 68! While I need to get more intimate with the hybrid, that seems like it will be a great club as well.

While I am very grateful for your time an expertise I was even more impressed with your recommendation that I wait for the next generation driver before buying one that didn't provide a great difference from my existing $99 driver. Lag for Power Chuck Anderson For club control one of the first things a golfer should learn is how to keep the club head lagging behind the hands through impact. Many golfers believe effort is power. Just look at any driving range and see what I mean. No amount of effort can produce more power than a player’s maximum turning speed. We simply can not push anything faster than we can run. The next time you practice keep these key points in mind and increase your lag to improve. Never push when you can pull. Never allow the slightest change in grip pressure. Never move the club from the wrists let the club move the wrist. Never stop the hands let them run out of gas. Club head speed is measured by how fast it goes through impact, not by how fast it passes the hands. Always allow your hands to be transported to the end of the follow through with a lagging club head.
